Tacoma Dome Exterior Renovations Underway
Exterior renovations have commenced at the Tacoma Dome as part of the overall modernization of the venue. There will be no impact on scheduled events
The installation of wood cladding is currently underway. This improvement to the fascia is inspired by the Dome’s geodesic wood roof, the central décor and design theme carried throughout the interior renovation. Other upgrades planned in this phase include enhanced lighting and hand rails at each entrance, improved delineation of the Heritage Bank Box Office, and repainting of all existing exterior surfaces. Work is expected to be completed at the end of June.
The $31 million renovation began in 2018 and has included all new seating, upgraded concessions, new artist quarters, additional restrooms, and new loading docks.
The remodeling of the Tacoma Dome has returned the iconic venue to a national stage, receiving recognition for the fan and artist-friendly renovations and the top shows making Tacoma a stop on their tours. These events include Becoming: An Intimate Evening with Michelle Obama with almost 19,000 in attendance and Michael Bublé’s April 6 show that set the record for highest single attended event on his US tour.
First quarter 2019 Pollstar Top 100 arena list ranks the Tacoma Dome at #24 in the US and #45 worldwide based on attendance, amongst venerable venues like Madison Square Garden in NY, the LA Forum, and Barclays Center. Pollstar is the leading concert industry publication.
